How to verify text links

Getting text links on authoritative sites is a very effective way to
promote your web site and business. You receive traffic, buzz, as well
as long-term search engine ranking benefits. Many online marketers pay
big bucks for high quality links, on sites with high PR and/or lots of
traffic. Generally the link is confirmed when the transaction takes
place, but after that they are rarely checked again. This is simply
because it's very hard to manage the re-validation of a large number
of links, on a regular basis.

There are a few tools out there to check the links for them, but they
have the following drawbacks:

  1. They are overly complex, requiring you to track entire
advertising campaigns, when what you really just want is link
    monitoring.

  2. Some are software applications, which means they need to be run
locally and regularly, and only generally run on Windows.

  3. Many are too basic in their functionality, and don't give you
enough information - they only tell you if the link is up or not.

Well there's a new link
checking tool
that completely solves all of these problem for link
buyers and exchangers. It has the following features:

  • Extremely fast, intuitive and easy to use!

  • Track an unlimited number of sites/pages (depending on your
plan) on which you're advertising your site on via text links.

  • Detect if your link has been removed.

  • Detect 'nofollow' attributes placed within links.

  • Determine the anchor text being used for your links.

  • Check the PR of the target site or page.

  • Track the seller's email and contact information for easy follow-up.

  • Track your spending on each link.

  • Obtain the full history of your links being tracked.

  • Email alerts! No need to constantly monitor your links, the
application will do that for you. You will be alerted whenever a link
goes missing, a 'nofollow' attribute is detected, and more!

  • Nightly or weekly checking, depending on your preference.

This will be an invaluable tool for those who are sponsoring text
links or blog posts, and need to be able to verify
backlinks
. If the tool alerts you to only one bad link it pays for
itself!

The Year Ahead is What Looms

Darren from Problogger.net is holding a competition for bloggers and there are a lot of prizes to win that have been sponsored by many readers of Darren's blog. Therefore, here is my entry.

The Year Ahead is What Looms

In 2007 I foresee many good things happening financially for me. However, it is probably best to enlighten readers why I say so. Those who know me from blogging subscribe to my rants and raves but most likely know what I do for a living.

I did work for a giant Telco in Australia called Telstra. Actually, I was employed by a contracting company that was contracted by Telstra to update their graphical mapping database. I did this for near on five years. In the meantime I started a business in 2004 called ideliverit Corporation Pty Ltd and slowly built this up via laptop and computer parts sales and dabbling a little bit in web design.

The months after opening the company online I also delved into SEO work. Learnt a bit here and bit there to keep my head afloat. Then I registered on Digitalpoint Forums after finding them on Google search. Well, my eyes were opened widely to the possibilities on online business. Since that day my status has grown phenomenally and am now recognised by the thousands that post regularly there.

What business was I conducting there? Offering my SEO services, article writing, article publishing and link sales. This business for me has boomed to say the least. It boomed so much that I left my job at Telstra 3 months ago to concentrate on this work.

Now I have 51 blogs of my own and several web sites in different niches. However, the reason for this article is to talk about what lies ahead in regards to my business. I have two main sites that draw quite a bit of traffic. One being my 2 year old site www.ideliverit.com for laptop sales and SEO services. I don't do a lot of work on that site except to my SEO page.

But the other main site www.mymoviereview.info is growing exponentially. This is a DVD and movie review site causing a user orientated Top 100 movies, actors and directors list. This site is fairly new and is already drawing a lot of attention. I expect this site to continue drawing attention and growing in popularity in hope that it might be a third of the popularity of imdb.com.

So, there you have it. My projection for the year ahead in 2007. I hope it goes well for me and I hope it goes well for you readers too!

A New Tree Planted For Every Person Attending

I just got off the phone from a sales representative at Trendwest. Trendwest is having a Roadshow up the Eastern Seaboard of Australia. Their product is timeshare basically. However, there was something about attending the 90 minute presentation that really impressed me. They guarantee that every person that attends the presentation a new tree will be planted somewhere in Australia.

Now, I understand gimmicks and props to get you in or hooked. But I gather this a very good hook. I am not obligated to attend the presentation or buy anything at all and the tree still gets planted.

Hats off to Trendwest for doing something about our environment.

Maths Genius Helps Students with Homework

His name is Jeremy (Surname withheld). A maths genius. This guy is almost like the Russell Crowe character John Nash out of the movie A Beautiful Mind. In fact, there is probably some relation there if you checked the genealogy.

If you are a youngster and you are having a problem with any maths then you must visit Math 2.0 and get not only your answer but how it was worked out! Isn't it great that someone so intellectual can bow down so low to help our younger ones?

Value Wiki

What is ValueWiki?

  • ValueWiki is an investment site for pooling investment research. The goal is to create a single source for investor information in the most efficient possible format.
  • ValueWiki combines the collaborative power of message boards with the informative power of investment sites, creating a centralized information hub for investors.

Why ValueWiki?

  • ValueWiki is built on the belief that wiki is the inevitable next step in investment research. People can pool research on Message boards, but the info is linear, disorganized, and often incorrect! The ValueWiki Mission is to provide information that is efficient, accurate, and unbiased, with civility among members and contributions by all!

  • There is a lot great information on sites like Yahoo finance and Google finance, but no central directory for all of these links. ValueWiki wants each article to become a one stop shop for all links and research for each stock.

  • We may be reaching the day when paid analysts become obsolete. Encyclopedia Brittainica's paid staff could only write 118,000 articles in 240 years. Wikipedia has written 1.5 million articles in 4 years! So Wiki seems to create a good model for collaborative research.

  • Zach and Jon set up ValueWiki so all factual information gets compiled on the article page, and all opinions & discussion happen on the Message Board. Every single page on ValueWiki has its own Message Board. And every single stock or fund page contains a live chat room. Hopefully, users will discover this!

  • To work best, ValueWiki must reach a critical mass. You can help out by visiting our Project List to see which articles need to be written. And you can spread the word to your friends.

  • Welcome to ValueWiki! The community is looking forward to your contributions!

Features

ValueWiki is the only site to offer investors live chat, message boards, unlimited private messaging, blogs and more - all for free!

Greg Norman's exit at The Australian Open

The 51-year-old has not played in the tournament since 1999 and the event at the Royal Sydney Golf Club starting on Thursday may be his competitive swansong in Australia.

"It could be. I'm not saying which one is going to be my last," Norman told a news conference.

"I talk to my family and ask them questions about how much more I can keep going on and doing it," he added.

"I'll be honest, the thought crosses my mind. Then I go out and play the golf course like last week and hit some pretty good shots and got excited.

"Then I think maybe I'll try one more. My competitive juices still flow and I can't comment on whether it will be my last one or not but sooner or later there will be a last one."

Norman said he was playing decent golf, though he does not expect to win his home Open for the sixth time.

"My form is ok, it's nothing startling," he said. "I've practised a little bit leading up to the event. Do I come in here with expectations of winning the golf tournament? No, I don't.

"Do I come in here with expectations of trying to do the best I can and feel confident in putting in a pretty solid performance? Yes, I do."

Norman, twice British Open champion, has won 31 tournaments in his home country but recognises that the likes of U.S. Open champion Geoff Ogilvy and world No. 4 Adam Scott are the players to beat this week.

"It's very complimentary to appear on promotions with these guys but I think they look at me in a different light nowadays than just someone who gets on the first tee with a chance of winning golf tournaments," he said.

"I carry the flag in a lot of different ways."

Kangaroo Abuse

An Australian teenager was arrested today after a kangaroo had to be put down when it was found with terrible injuries in the back of an abandoned car in Sydney's west.

Police said they were called last night to an area at Cranebrook, where a car was seen driving around.

Officers found the abandoned car on the side of the road with a kangaroo in the back in a distressed state.

The animal was taken to a veterinary hospital but had to be put down.

Police said a 19-year-old was arrested today and was being questioned at Penrith police station.

Radium Weed Cures Skin Cancer.

I tested this weed out on a skin cancer I had on my cheek. This cancer was present for about 5 years and was slowly growing. Some friends suggested to put the fresh sap from radium weed on the blemish twice a day to cure it.

Well, only 10 minutes after putting the fresh sap on it blistered up huge. At the end of the first day and after two treatments the blister was cracking and the cancer was stinging. After two days it was as itchy as crazy. Almost drove me nuts. After one week most of the scab was breaking off. Two weeks and scab was completely gone.

Now, four weeks later, not even a blemish remains.

Going through the first few days, it feels like the sap is going through the inside of your cheek reaching the far ends of the cancer which is probably why it was so itchy.

There are a few web sites that comment on this weed. The sap is called Canesma. Apparently the CSIRO in Australia is testing it for the marketplace. Don't be surprised if it will end up becoming a prescription only drug. Would stand to reason why it is taking so long to test.

I also heard the farmers up in Queensland have know about this for about fifty years and have used it successfully on all skin cancers on their arms, legs and face. Apparently, it will only work when the sap is freshly squeezed from the plant. I think the scientists at CSIRO are trying to work out how to keep the Canesma from spoiling so quickly.

Whatever the decision. Surely, the cure for cancers will defeat any pricing structure. It will be worth it.

The Fart. How does it Work?

I did a little bit of research and found a site with a great deal of facts about farts. I found it extremely interesting that women fart just as much as men despite the fallacy. If you tell people that you never fart then you are lying.

Here are some interesting facts.

  1. Every person farts. Even shortly after death!
  2. Women fart just as much as men. It's just that most men take more pride in it than most women. There is a large variation among individuals in the amount of fart gas produced per day, but the variation does not correlate with gender.
  3. Scientific studies of farts show that women's farts have a higher concentration of odor-causing gases than men's farts, but men's farts have a larger volume. The two factors equalize out (the same number of stench molecules for both), so the odor is about the same.
  4. A gentleman is mostly likely to fart first thing in the morning, while in the bathroom. This is known as "morning thunder," and if the gentleman gets good resonance, it can be heard throughout the household.
  5. Beans contain sugars that we humans cannot digest. The most offensive sugars, known as "flatulence factors" to scientists who research farts, are raffinose, stachiose, and verbascose. When these sugars reach our intestines, the bacteria go wild, have a big feast, and make lots of gas!
  6. People who swallow a lot of air fart more than people who don't. This can be cured somewhat by chewing with your mouth closed, eating more slowly, and not gulping food or liquids. Chewing gum, smoking, and sucking on candy also can cause a person to swallow more air. Carbonated drinks give a person extra gas. Nervous people with fast moving bowels will fart more because less air is absorbed out of the intestines. Some disease conditions can cause excess flatulence. Going up in an airplane or other low-pressure environment can cause the gas inside you to expand and emerge as flatus. Tilting your head back and pouring a drink straight down your gullet (chugging) also leads to an excess of swallowed air, and hence, farting.
  7. People have believed for centuries that retaining flatus is bad for the health. Emperor Claudius even passed a law legalizing farting at banquets out of concern for people's health. There was a widespread belief that a person could be poisoned or catch a disease by retaining farts. Farts will not poison you; they are a natural component of your intestinal contents. The worst thing that can happen is that you may get a stomach ache from the gas pressure. But one doctor suggested that pathological distention of the bowel could result if a person holds in farts too much.
  8. You should be aware that people get injured igniting flatus. Not only can the flame back up into your colon, but your clothing or other surroundings may catch on fire. A survey done by Fartcloud (the site, alas! is no more) indicates that about a quarter of the people who ignited their farts got burned doing it. Ignition of flatus is a hazardous practice.
  9. Few people earn their living directly via flatulence. However, Le Petomane andMr. Methane, are just two who whistled tunes with their farts, blew out candles on the opposite side of the stage, and sent flames all the way across the stage.
  10. Turtles fart and their farts smell incredibly bad, as do the farts of snakes. In fact, many reptiles use farts as a weapon.
There is a lot more factual information found on the Facts on Farts web site by Brenna Lorenz.

Calculate your age by how often you eat out.

YOUR AGE BY DINER & RESTAURANT MATH

This is pretty neat.

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!
It takes less than a minute .
Work this out as you read ...
Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!
This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would
like to go out to eat.
(more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1756 .
If you haven't, add 1755.

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number
(I.e., How many times you want to go out to restaurants in a
week.)

The next two numbers are

YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2006) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT
AROUND WHILE IT LASTS

HDD's in Mobile Phones

It's only a matter of time when mobile phones will have hard disks in them. But what should the standard size be? 10 Gb? 20Gb? 100Gb?

Why would we possibly want that big a hard drive in our mobile phone? Now that mobile phone cameras are 2 megapixels and more it will be necessary to have appropriate storage. I am thinking 100 Gigs should be standard. The phone, of course, would be slightly bigger than your average phone but it seems this is the way our lifestyles are heading.

For example, I have an I-Mate PDA2K EVDO mobile phone that has a VGA camera and has Windows Mobile 2003 and a 2 Gb SD card. The phone is a bit bulky but the things it can do is amazing.

Your thoughts? What would you like to see in a mobile phone today?

The IT Crowd

We all need a bit of humour this day and age. The ABC here in Australia provides a great wealth of it in the form of comedy shows. The IT Crowd is one of them.

The first time I watched this show I nearly wet myself.

Moss, who lives with his Mum, who also dresses him, styles his hair and buys his clothes. He's highly intelligent, scared of spiders and has the social skills of a serial killer. The closest he's got to a woman is Lara Croft, and he struggles to communicate with anything that doesn't have a keyboard. Brilliantly played by Richard Ayoade.

Roy's spiky personality ensures he'll always be kept away from normal people as long as possible. He's king of the basement, indulging his love of comic books, fast food, computer games and random arguments with his best friend, Moss. Played by Chris O'Dowd.

Jen knows nothing about IT, she only got the job because she said she had extensive experience of computers like using mices, clicking, double-clicking, and that thing that goes on the floor... the er hard-drive? As well as being their line manager, Jen is Roy and Moss' agony aunt, relationship coach and guru about life outside the basement. Not that her life is going particularly well, it's just better than theirs. Played by Katherine ???

The three make up a classic style of random comedy. My favourite is Moss by far. Oh! Keep an eye out for the Goth behind the green door and also the mad CEO.

The IT Crowd is one for viewing.

A great way to get rid of cheap white wine

I just found out this method only last night. My wife had inherited a carton of cheap white wine and it was not very good to drink on it's own. So she decided to try blending it with a bottle of cheap cleanskin Cab Sauvignon in attempt to create Rose'.

I must admit, I thought she was mad. But it worked very well indeed. Looking forward to the next blend!

Thinking up ways to beat tailgaters

Now that I have been driving for over 25 years it is time to let go of some beefs about my fellow drivers on the roads and highways. I have been cut off, beaten up, rammed, honked at, sworn at, spat at, run over and dragged by every sort of driver possibly known to man. How to beat them at their own game? But the worst of them all are tailgaters. Drivers who are impatient and can't wait to get past you. How can we stop them from tailgating?

Here are some ideas of mine:

  1. Install 1000 Watt spotlights in the rear of the car. Temporary blindness will have an immediate effect.
  2. James Bond style Oil Slick
  3. Pop up sign that says "I am about to throw up out the window. Stay Clear!"
  4. Slowing down to under half the speed limit.
  5. Stutteringly tap the brakes.
  6. Slam the brakes on. This method usually ends up in you copping a mouthful and maybe a few punches in the face. But the monetary compensation should outweigh the pain.
  7. Grenade Launcher.
  8. Pretending to turn off but don't.
  9. Speeding as fast as you can.
  10. Pull over and let them pass.
Seriously though. If we all did number 10 then everyone will get to their destination at the right time in their own mind.
